Building skills through work experience

During her engagement with LAES, Saoirse and her caseworker explored opportunities that would help her gain experience and move closer to employment. Working collaboratively with the Tús programme, a placement was identified with the Irish Wheelchair Association that matched her interests and needs. In her role, Saoirse assists with transport services, meal preparation and social activities, gaining valuable workplace experience in a supportive environment. Her progression onto Tús has provided an opportunity to develop practical skills, establish a routine and build confidence while contributing positively through a role she genuinely enjoys.

“I absolutely love working here. The experience has helped me build confidence, develop practical skills and become more comfortable in a workplace setting. I’ve really enjoyed meeting people, learning new things and being part of a supportive team.” – Saoirse, LAES client
