The Goats Path between Loughlin’s Bridge and Bay Lough is one of the most distinctive sections of the Tipperary Heritage Way, offering dramatic mountain scenery and some of the most recognisable views in the Knockmealdowns. Following severe winter storms and prolonged heavy rainfall, significant erosion damage threatened this popular route. With support from South Tipperary Development CLG, Knockmealdown Active secured Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme funding to undertake essential repairs, including the installation of steps and water-control measures. The works have protected this vulnerable section of trail and ensured walkers can continue to enjoy one of South Tipperary’s signature outdoor experiences.
“The recent works have made a massive difference. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. It was especially satisfying to see hundreds of participants experience the improvements during the Knockmealdown Mountain Adventure Race.”– Anthony, Organising Committee Member of the Race
