Following the relocation of Ukrainian families to Clonmel, LAES caseworkers identified that limited English language skills were creating barriers to employment and everyday life. In response, a 10-week English language programme was delivered with a Ukrainian tutor, providing participants with a supportive environment to develop their communication skills and confidence. The programme helped participants engage more fully with local services, build workplace language skills and better prepare for employment opportunities. The programme demonstrated how a targeted intervention can provide the right support at the right time, helping participants take the next steps in their integration story.
“I’m happy to report that I’m very pleased with the LAES programme. My caseworker was a great help. She organised Basic English classes with a Ukrainian Tutor, which I found excellent.” – Yevhenii Herasymenko, LAES client
