Services Description

The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) is co-funded by the Irish Government, through the Department of Rural and Community Development, and the European Union, through the European Social Fund Plus

STDC provides personalised support to individuals in South Tipperary who are experiencing disadvantage to help them to develop their careers. Service is free and confidential. What do we do?

Coaching & Guidance Supports

One to one guidance and coaching support
Exploring employment options
Career planning
Job / training/ education supports
Funding assistance for specific job related training (based on meeting funding criteria

Job Search Resources

CV and cover letter preparation
Interview skills & mock Interview coaching
Job applications tips and techniques
Job searching support

Information Service

Local education & training opportunities
Information and referral to Community Employment and Tús schemes
Advice on Return to work, self employment, further education /training options and social welfare entitlements and incentives

Employer engagement

SICAP can work with local employers in all areas to increase their awareness of employment incentives and supports, encouraging equality and more inclusive recruitment practices, including the Jobs Plus and WPEP Scheme.
SICAP can also identify skills shortages in the local area and highlight to relevant agencies
Employers will also be kept informed of new measures and incentives to recruit from the live register.
SICAP will develop a ‘Labour Market Training Budget’. This budget will be used to provide relevant and specific training to clients. EG: Safe Pass;
Moving and Handling; First Aid.

Who is this Service for?

Specific eligibility applies. It’s predominately for

disadvantaged young people (aged 15-24)
disadvantaged women
lone parents
new communities (including refugees and asylum seekers)
people living in disadvantaged communities
people with disabilities
Roma
the unemployed
low income workers/households
Travellers
the disengaged from the labour market (economically inactive)
an emerging needs target group selected at local level by the Local Community Development Committees to reflect the specific needs of the local area if not otherwise addressed
